At a meeting of Full Council today, Cllr Steve Bell expressed his upset and disgust that Brighton & Hove City Council are one of the only local authorities not currently signed-up to the ‘Tell Us Once’ service.
The Conservative Group has called out the Labour Administration for lip-service a year since Conservative Cllr Steve Bell raised a Notice of Motion calling for a ban on the purchase of single use plastics in all Brighton and Hove City Council buildings and council funded agencies.
Brighton and Hove Conservatives welcome the Government’s £1.163m cash injection into the City to repair and maintain roads and streets. This is in addition to the £0.189m previously given to the Council for pot hole repairs.
Greg Barker, Minster of State for the Department of Energy and Climate Change and MP for Bexhill and Battle, visited the Brighton Kemptown Constituency on 9th May. Mr Barker’s visit included a tour of an eco-home in the city, followed by a roundtable discussion at the University of Brighton, where he met representatives of the Chamber of Commerce and important members of the sustainable energy community.
Simon Kirby, MP for Brighton Kemptown, is to table an amendment to the Localism Bill, currently making its way through Parliament to allow the Secretary of State at the Department of Communities and Local Government, to change the Brighton Marina Act so that the provision to build above the cliff height could be disallowed.
